First Released: 2009
Commentary: Sony Legacy’s 2009 budget-line compilation Playlist can’t be viewed as a greatest-hits collection — there are too many big Bill Withers’ hits missing, including the original hit versions of “Lean on Me,” “Lovely Day,” “Just the Two of Us,” and “Use Me.” Instead, this balances “Ain’t No Sunshine” and a live version of “Lean on Me” with the minor hits “Heartbreak Road” and “Grandma’s Hands,” along with a bunch of good album tracks to give a good indication of the range of Withers’ talents, even if it doesn’t offer up all the hits.
